This page explains what data the SMSNova browser extension (“the Extension”) accesses, stores, and transmits. It supplements our main Privacy Policy, which covers the SMSNova website and account in general.
What the Extension does
The Extension is a companion tool for your existing SMSNova account (smsnova.net). It lets you view your active phone number rentals, incoming SMS verification codes, wallet balance, and order history, and rent new virtual numbers — directly from your browser toolbar.
Data the Extension accesses
Your SMSNova login session. The Extension needs to know you’re logged in to show your account information. There are two ways this happens:
- If you copy a login code from your Account settings on smsnova.net and paste it into the Extension, that code (your session token) is stored locally in your browser and used to authenticate requests to the SMSNova API.
- If you’re already logged in to smsnova.net in your browser, a small script running only on smsnova.net pages reads your existing session token from that page and relays it to the Extension, so you don’t have to log in twice. This script never runs on, or reads data from, any other website.
Your SMSNova account data. Once logged in, the Extension fetches your order history, active rentals, SMS/OTP contents, wallet balance, and email address directly from the SMSNova API (api.smsnova.net) to display them in the popup.
What the Extension does NOT do
- It does not collect analytics, usage statistics, or browsing history.
- It does not read, modify, or run on any website other than smsnova.net, and only to relay your existing login session — no other data on that page is read.
- It does not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party. All data stays between your browser and the SMSNova API you already use on the website.
- It does not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to showing you your own SMSNova account information.
Data storage
Your login session token, and a small local cache of already-seen order IDs (used only to avoid duplicate desktop notifications), are stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s extension storage APIs. This data is never transmitted anywhere except to the SMSNova API to authenticate your requests.
Logging out, or revoking the corresponding session under Account → Active Sessions on smsnova.net, immediately revokes the Extension’s access too.
